I wanted to try and inject some hope into my poems, or at least give a positive feel to them! After spending the last few years insisting that poems don't need to rhyme, it seems that is all I am producing at the moment. So I am going to attempt a different approach.
Hope you enjoy!
The warm summer breeze whispered the sweet promise of love
The fragrant aroma of anticipation gently lingered in the atmosphere
Those unspoken words suspended in the calm air
Shades of optimism streaked across the fiery sunset sky
Hearts decorated with hope, burning with desire
Each precious moment, tenderly cherished
Could this be the beginning of a lasting liaison?
The dawning of a true love?
Lovely! A lot more optimistic than the last two I read, but just as sentimental. I agree that poetry doesn't have to rhyme, though I've always found it hard to practise what I preach and end up with most of what I write rhyming unless I'm determined from the outset not to let it happen.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear I'm not the only one!
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that you won't know your own style until you have tried out different styles. I think I am going to have to challenge myself to try different approaches! I'll see what the next picture is first though!
Thanks for your comment.
