We laughed, held hands,
Drew love hearts in the sand
We were young and free
You meant the world to me
Our summer romance was innocent enough
We were just two teens, falling in love
The memories, they are so clear
I treasure them all, each one so dear
We knew before our friendship started
By the end of the summer, we would be parted
No mobile phones to text or call
No emails, no internet, no technology at all!
The tide came in and destroyed our art
I was inconsolable with a broken heart
Just like those etchings on the beach
Summer was over, you were out of reach
Ahh, those bitter-sweet memories! =D
ReplyDeleteYour poem reminds me of the opening scenes in Grease (have you watched that?).
Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed it! Oh, and thanks for reading mine!
Lovely, nice poem. I like it so much:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments! Glad you like, although I am concerned my poems are all sounding a bit like love lost! Must try harder to be a bit more positive!
ReplyDeleteYes I have seen Grease!
...those summer dreams, ripped at the seams...!!
Funny, I also had the Grease opening in my head whilst reading this :) The last stanza is so emotional, lovely stuff!
ReplyDeleteThank you Cath!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in a seaside town and had an image of the beach there when writing this poem!
Nothing as exciting as the stuff Grease is made of ever happened there though!
Thanks for the comment.
